What is a Herniated Disc?
A herniated disc is caused by a disc in the spine moving out of place. Discs refer to the soft cushion that is between the vertebrae of the spine. With a herniated disc, a disc moves out of place, which can result in nerves being irritated, often causing neck pain.
Herniated Disc Symptoms
While neck pain is a common symptom of a herniated disc, other herniated disc symptoms include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Pain that is felt in the thighs
- Neck pain that worsens from moving and improves from resting
- Neck pain that worsens when sneezing, coughing or sitting
