Studies show hiking can help children learn to focus and concentrate, while at the same time increase their problem solving skills as they navigate their surroundings. For the parents, hiking is an excellent form of exercise: it elevates your heart rate, improves muscle tone and increases bone density and strength, as walking is a weight-bearing exercise.  Stronger bone density leads to an decreased risk of osteoporosis later in life. Most importantly, the whole family gets to spend some quality time together, away from the normal distractions of every day life.
