United Way of CNY, 211cny and Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists are teaming up with the U.S. Postal Service National Association of Letter Carriers for a food drive to benefit local food pantries.
"Stamp Out Hunger" will take place on May 13th -marking the 25th anniversary of this annual national effort. Letter Carriers will drop off bags to homes May 8 - May 10 and will collect the bags filled with non-perishable food donations on May 13. The drive will benefit local food pantries, as they struggle to keep up with the increase in families who are turning to them for assistance.
"This effort goes is right in line with one of United Way's main focus areas, making sure the Basic Needs are taken care of for all people in Onondaga County" said United Way of CNY President Frank Lazarski.
The Letter Carrier Food Drive is one of the most efficient and effective ways individuals and families can help people who are in need of food.
