Dr. Kyle Plante is a family physician specializing in primary care sports medicine, including the management of sports-related concussions. He will collaborate with the SOS Sports Medicine Team to treat SOS patients for both sports-related concussions and general non-operative orthopedic sports medicine. Dr. Plante is also a clinical practitioner with St. Joseph’s Hospital and apart of a team physicians for Syracuse University Athletics. He has extensive experience in sports medicine, having provided medical coverage for various mass participation events, such as the Chicago Marathon, as well as sideline medical coverage to high school, college, and professional athletes, including the Buffalo Sabres. He is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He has published several peer-reviewed research articles and case-reports in the fields of sports medicine and general primary care.

Dr. Plante is a resident of Central New York, along with his wife and two young kids. He enjoys spending time with his family, attending SU sporting events, and various outdoor activities such as golfing and skiing.

Appointments with Dr. Plante are only being scheduled from a referral within our SOS Sports Medicine Team. Currently, SOS is not scheduling appointments for treatment of concussions outside of our own physician’s referrals.

The Clinical Experience 
Dr. Plante has extensive training in general medicine, sports-related concussion diagnosis and management, and non-operative orthopedics. He is trained in the use of ultrasound to assist in the diagnosis of various musculoskeletal conditions, as well as for use with ultrasound-guided procedures, including injections of corticosteroids, viscosupplementation, and orthobiologics.
